OUR TEAM

TO:’s network of award-winning journalists and photographers provides TO: with rich content and expertise. Together, we have covered every country in the world over the past 40+ years. We have traveled far and wide to explore every inch of this big beautiful world.

Founder/CEO Steve Connatser:  Steve brings to TO: a nationally recognized reputation of excellence. In his 25 years in the magazine business, he has won over 400 awards from various sources such as The Magazine Publishers’ Association, The New York Art Directors’ Club, and The Society of Publication Design. Prior to founding TO:’s print magazine, he was the editor and publisher of Polo Magazine and a consultant with Club Corp of America. Residing in Dallas with his wife Judy, Steve has lived the TO: life—smoked cigars with Fidel Castro in Havana, white water rafted the Zambezi in Zimbabwe, ridden atop a train dubbed the “Flying Rooster” from high in the Andes down through the rain forest, run with the bulls in Pamplona, and been charged by a bull elephant in South Africa.

Associate Editor, Angela Connatser began her career in New York where she worked for Vogue magazine and The New York Observer. Angela moved back to Texas from Florence, Italy, where she received her Masters in Business Luxury. Having scaled a glacier in Iceland, fly-fished in the wilds of Patagonia, black-water rafted through the caves of New Zealand, climbed the Matterhorn, trudged the mangroves of Borneo in Malaysia and boar-rafted in Nova Scotia, she can be coerced into traveling almost anywhere. When she isn’t sipping martinis in the air, Angela can often be spotted at Starbucks staring into space and sometimes laughing for no reason.

A Texas hill country native, Angela Mondragon is a design aficionado with a keen aptitude for anything creative. Her love of food, fashion and travel inspires everything she touches. Her artistic eye led her to The Richards Group in Dallas, where designed for such clients as Red Lobster, Snapple & Dr. Pepper. Angela has served as president of the Dallas Society of Visual Communications [DSVC] and remains very involved in Dallas’ graphic design community. She followed her passion for cooking & eating to the blogosphere, where she created Two Hot Potatoes, an interactive haven for foodies. Angela Mondragon currently serves as the Visual Director for Traveler Overseas, for which she also does photography.

The Free Independent Traveler [FIT] is a term used by people in the travel industry to describe those seeking a real & authentic travel experience. These travelers make up the core of our market. From the emerging travel enthusiast to the most experienced, our users want to immerse themselves in other cultures, connect with new people, and understand other perspectives. These are our people.

Traveler Overseas has shortened the term to Independent Travelers [I.T.], which we use sporadically throughout the site. Itineraries generated by our users—Independent Travelers—are deemed i.t.i n e r a r i e s.
